Korean Air is banning iBooks!

Korean Air is banning both Apple and Dell laptops on all its flights due to the "exploding" battery phenomenon. This unfair ban affects all Dell laptops, but only iBooks and Powerbooks, not the newer MacBook and MacBook Pro lines. Geuss it's time to upgrade :-) Their solution? Take out the batteries and place them into checked luggage. Sigh, guess I won't be going to Korea anytime soon. I guess in the imortal words of the great philosopher Eric Cartman "Screw you guys, I'm goin home!"

The other Korean carrier, Asiana Airlines, says both laptop brands are still alright on their flights. Awwwwww, isn't that nice of them? AKA, sure, we'll take all there business and smile all the way to the bank :-)

Steve Irwin, Croc Hunter

Well, by now it's common knowledge that Steve Irwin has died in a tragic accident. The news is all over the net and just about every blog I subscribe to has made some comments. Even with this barrage of coverage there are still things to say and not just the facts.

I have been a fan of Steve for a long time now. There have been many times that I though he was borderline insane but he was ALWAYS entertaining. He re-inspired a sense of awe and respect for the environment and creatures of this world that has not been seen since the hay day of Wild Kingdom or the Jacques Cousteau specials of the 70's and 80's. I believe that he did more for animal rights and respect than groups like PETA will ever do.

After my first child came along I discovered how good Steve was with children. I did not know this side to him. He was good friends with The Wiggles and was even in a few of their DVDs with his wife and daughter. Wiggle Safari, in which he had a lead roll, was one of the best video's for my son when he was an infant. It was the magic bullet for when he just would not stop crying. since it was that video and not other Wiggles one, it was Steve that brought the magic. My son and I still watch Croc Hunter together on weekends and I hope that continues.

We're going to miss you buddy! May your legacy and dreams live on in all of us!

Did Lola have too much testosterone for breakfast?
Or did axel, the small furry animal, sneek in?

The Endor Holocaust

This just in from MetaFilter......

The Endor Holocaust
September 4, 2006 9:31 AM PST

"The ewok population is effectively extinguished. Most were killed in a mass-extinction event affecting life on their homeworld, due to unavoidable fallout and debris from the destruction of the Death Star II. The Rebel Alliance is culpable but perhaps innocent. All ewoks would have been better off if the tribe which made contact with the rebels continued with their original plan of killing and eating the commando team's leaders." (Rebuttal [PDF]).

Eminem Has Buddhist Tendencies, says expert

The Buddhist Channel, Aug 29, 2006

http://www.buddhistchannel.tv/index.php?id=9,3092,0,0,1,0

New York, USA -- Parents of Eminem fans can relax as the controversial rapper may actually be preaching a more peaceful Eastern philosophy with his lyrics. A leading Buddhist expert has claimed that Eminem has leanings towards the religion through his songs.

<< Despite spouting foul-mouthed lyrics seemingly about violence, misogyny and homophobia, Perry Garinfkel sees some good in Eminem.

According to pagesix.com, Garfinkel in his new book 'Buddha or Bust' says that Buddha's philosophy is cryptically encoded in Eminem's hit song 'Lose Yourself', despite also having songs called 'Kill You', 'Bitch' and 'Just Don't Give A F***.'

The line 'You better lose yourself in the music, the moment' actually 'mirrors the Buddhist meditative practice of mindfulness, in which the practitioner lives in the here and now. By being present in the moment, he finds himself'.

"By being present in the moment, he finds himself."

Despite such positive messages, Gafinkel concedes that Eminem probably doesn't know too much about the religion.

He added: "I highly doubt Eminem would know a boddhistva from a bodacious babe."
