RadioShack Employees fired via email!

RadioShack Corp. laid off 403 employees at its Fort Worth headquarters Tuesday Aug 29th via e-mail. Email! What kind of world are we living in? This is a multi-billion dollar multi-national company. Shouldn't someone in HR have thought to actually go and talk to these people face to face? That's just common courtesy, especially to people who helped to keep you company going. The article states that they were expecting it, and knew the dismissal might come this way, but that is a truly horrible way to drop to down size your workforce. I equate this to the urban legend of a relationship being broken up on an answering machine message or even worse a post-it note.
"We wanted to treat our employees with as much dignity and respect as possible," RadioShack Spokeswoman Kay Jackson said.
